MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – Rebecca Swisher won the pole vault and Maya Jackson took first in the discus throw to lead the Franklin & Marshall women's track and field team to a ninth place showing out (34 points) of 24 teams at the 32nd annual Millersville Metrics on Saturday. Millersville placed first with 142 points, followed by West Chester with 71.50 and Indiana (Pa.) with 52.
The meet featured five Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) schools, along with several Centennial Conference (CC) colleges as well.
Swisher's first-place height of 3.55 meters (11'-07.75") tied the Millersville Metrics record she set a year ago, while Samantha Walmer earned an 11th-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:12.63 as she also earned a 13th-place spot in the 100-meter hurdles at 17.30.
Maya Jackson's discus throw of 37.08 meters (121'-08") earned her first-place points, while she added a fifth-place showing in the javelin with a throw of 37.42 meters or 122'-09" and another fifth-place finish in the shot put (12.05 meters or 39'-06.50"). Livia Meneghin posted an 11th-place showing with a throw of 10.88 meters or 35'-08.50".
In the triple jump, F&M's Morgan Gray placed third with a distance of 10.80 meters (35'-05.25").
The Diplomats are back in action next Saturday at the Delaware Open.
