COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall earned a win on the second day in a row, as the Diplomats took down Ursinus 116-89 on Saturday afternoon in Centennial Conference (CC) men's swimming action. F&M improved to 4-2, 3-1 CC, while the Bears dropped to 6-3, 3-2.
The Diplomats earned 11 points in the first race, as Andreas Lair Ferrari, Eric Lang, Richard Perry, and Ryan Caffrey won the 400-yard medley relay at 3:38.92. F&M also earned points in the 1,000-yard freestyle when Patrick Greaney (10:13.12) and Lair Ferrari (10:17.23) placed second and third respectively.
Dennis Chen finished first in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:48.03, while Matthew Murphy won the next race (50-yard freestyle) at 22.70, followed closely by David Burton in second at 22.75.
Lang continued an impressive day for F&M with a win in the 200-yard individual medley (1:59.79) and Caffrey (49.73) and Murphy (50.11) placed second and third, respectively, in the 100-yard freestyle.
In the 500-yard freestyle, Chen won his second race of the day at 4:55.69, and Lang touched first in his second individual event (200-yard breaststroke) with a time of 2:18.16.
F&M closed out the day winning the 400-yard freestyle relay, as a team of Burton, Richard Denton, Murphy and Chen finished at 3:19.34.
The Diplomats return to action next Saturday for a 1:00 p.m. meet at Dickinson.
