Series History: Franklin & Marshall will battle McDaniel for the 48th time in a series that dates back to 1904. F&M has dominated the past decade, winning 11 contests since 2003. The 11 consecutive wins is the longest Diplomats' winning streak in the series. F&M reeled off six-straight from 1984 to 1989 while, McDaniel took the seven-straight meetings between 1997 and 2003.
F&M Last Week: Dickinson defeated Franklin & Marshall 13-7 two weeks ago in Centennial Conference (CC) football action and will hold on to the Conestoga Wagon Trophy for another year.
F&M outgained Dickinson 374-256 yards on offense and held a slight 18-17 edge in first downs.
David Shellhammer rushed for 89 yards on 20 carries and Stephon Smith finished with 31 on seven touches.
Matt Magarity finished with 237 yards and one score while Andrew DeStefano picked up 82 yards on seven catches.
Brendan Daly led the defense with eight tackles and Steve Elf, A.J. Koikoi and Cullen Falvey each had six stops.
McDaniel Last Week: Gettysburg scored 35 straight points to break open a 10-all game en route to a 45-17 victory over McDaniel on Oct. 3.
Mike Oliveto finished with 101 yards for his fourth career 100-yard receiving game. Matty Callahan threw for 230 yards.
Luke Fernandez made 11 tackles, including his first collegiate sack. Claude-Michel Richardson led the defense with 13 tackles.
The Last Meeting: Franklin & Marshall knocked off McDaniel 31-7 last season on Oct. 18.
F&M outgained McDaniel 430-267 yards on offense and held a 36:10-23:50 edge in time of possession.
Zach Bradley completed 11-of-16 passes with one interception and 164 yards for the Diplomats. Jordan Zackery hauled in seven passes for 108 yards and Paul McGann had five grabs for 45 yards.
Ryan Ignatovig, Vincent Acosta, Mark Opaliski, Lou Moeller and Frank Seitz did not allow a sack all afternoon and helped Taalib Gerald rack up 122 yards on 21 rushes and three scores while Matt Magarity finished with 44 yards on six rushes.
A.J. Koikoi paced the defense with five tackles, including one sack and 1.5 tackles for a loss. Brendan Daly had five stops and Jon Naji finished the game with three tackles for a loss, including two sacks.
The Last Meeting in Westminister: E.J. Schneider accounted for 323 yards and all four scores to lead Franklin & Marshall to a 28-9 victory over McDaniel on Oct. 19, 2013.
F&M's offensive line of Ryan Ignatovig, Chad Tothero, Matthew Pisarcik, Sam Dickinson and Frank Seitz played a major role in Schneider's production, giving up zero sacks and paving the way for a season-high 255 rushing yards.
Schneider racked up 151 yards on 13 rushes with an 11.6 average and two scores. He added 172 more through the air, completing 15-for-24 passes and two more touchdowns.
Scott LaValva finished with 61 yards on the ground and Brendan Daly added 25 on three rushes.
Jordan Zackery had a game-high 91 yards on eight catches and a score and Paul Koehler hauled in three passes for 39 yards.
Brendan Wengerter continued his dominance on defense with a game-high 14 stops (9s). Wengerter added a sack and now leads the conference in both sacks and tackles. Ryan Young had an impressive 13 tackles (7s) and Brian Velasco ended with nine stops. Aaron Fant insured the top spot in the CC in interceptions with a pick on the afternoon and had five tackles for the Diplomats.
Homecoming: It's Homecoming on the Hill for McDaniel. The Green Terror are 54-26-1 on Homecoming, including winning 13 of the last 22. This is the second straight year that Franklin & Marshall has travelled to Westminster for Homecoming. The Diplomats won 28-9 in 2013 but were also the Homecoming opponent in both 2005 and 2007 and both games needed overtime. In 2005, Franklin & Marshall prevailed 17-14 in overtime for its first win over McDaniel since 1996. In 2007, the two teams decided on an encore. This time the Diplomats found the end zone in the extra period and forced a fumble on the Green Terror's attempt in the first overtime to escape with the win, 24-17.
