LANCASTER, Pa. – Washington & Lee put together a 16-0 run to start the third quarter and never looked back en route to defeating Franklin & Marshall 77-54 on Sunday afternoon in the consolation game of the Terry Greene Tip-Off Classic. The defeat dropped the Diplomats to 0-4 on the year, while the Generals moved to 1-2 with the victory.

Carrying a 38-32 lead into the third quarter, W&L blew the game open in the early minutes of the second half. Three treys from Emily Perszyk spurred a 16-0 run as the Generals opened up a 54-32 lead. The Diplomats fought back with five straight points of their own, but the damage was already done. Another three from W&L with seconds remaining in the quarter pushed the Generals' lead back to 24 heading into the fourth.

W&L employed a similar start to open the first half, storming out to an 18-0 advantage in the early going. However, back-to-back threes from Lindsey Powers and Anajha Burnett keyed a 10-0 response from the Diplomats. Sarah Pisani hit a long triple as the buzzer sounded, and Generals' lead was just seven after the first quarter.

In the second, W&L again grew its lead to as much as 12, but another long three from Pisani cut the lead the six at 35-29. At halftime, the Generals held a 38-32 lead, setting up the decisive third period.

Burnett led the Diplomat offense, recording 18 points on the night, while Powers notched 12.
