WASHINGTON, D.C. – The No. 7 Franklin & Marshall men's squash team faced little resistance from No. 17 George Washington on Friday evening, earning seven sweeps in the contest for a dominant 8-1 victory. The win improved the Diplomats' record to 12-6 with just one contest remaining in the regular season, while the Colonials fell to 8-7.
F&M suffered its only defeat in the matchup at the No. 1 position in the lineup. Cole Osborne (No. 2), and Dylan Cunningham (No. 3) were solid at the top of the order after the pair swept their opponents by 3-0 tallies.
Pedro Veiga de Almeida followed at No. 4 with an 11-8, 11-8, 11-6 sweep, while Brian Henry secured a 3-1 win (12-10, 8-11, 11-7, 11-6) at No. 5 and Kareem Nabil Abdel Mawla (No. 6) blanked the opposition at 3-0 (11-3, 11-4, 11-4).
Gavan Hitchenor (No. 7), Philip Kelly (No. 8) and Christopher Bown (No. 9) rounded out the dominance by pacing the bottom of the ladder with a trio of sweeps.
The Diplomats complete their regular season on Sunday by traveling to Annapolis, Md. to take on No. 14 Navy at 2:00 p.m.
