NEWARK, Del. – Livia Meneghin set the Franklin & Marshall record in the shot put and won the event at to lead the women's track and field team to a seventh-place finish out of 15 teams at the Delaware Open on Saturday. The Diplomats accumulated 79 points, while Delaware won the event with 205.66 points, followed by Stockton (173) and Towson (164.33).
Meneghin's distance of 41'-05.00" earned first-place points and broke the previous F&M record of 40'-11.50" which was set by Maya Jackson last year. Meneghin added a fourth-place showing in the discus at 102'-09".
Kimberly Hilfrank finished fourth in the 1500-meter run with a time of 5:17.83, while Rebecca Swisher placed second in the pole vault with a height of 11'-03.00". Alyssa Ward's distance of 15'-09.75" was good for fourth in the long jump.
F&M is back in action next Saturday at the All-American Meet, hosted by East Stroudsburg.
