F&M Competes at Springfield's Last Chance Meet

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Several members of Franklin & Marshall's men's and women's track & field team competed at Springfield College's Last Chance Meet on Thursday and Friday.

On the women's side, Rebecca Swisher placed fourth in the pole vault at 11'-08.50", while Livia Meneghin was 10th in the shot put with a distance of 40'-11.00".

In men's action, Logan Lewis had a personal best in the shot put with a distance of 52'-02.75" and just missed F&M's record of 52'-07.00" held by Talavou Alailima in '95. Evan Friend placed 13th in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.43, while Luk Olenginski finished 12th in the 800-meter run at 1:54.15.

Earlier in the week, the Diplomats competed at Swarthmore's Last Chance Meet where L. Olenginski broke the school record in the 800-meter run. His time of 1:53.25 broke the previous record of 1:53.44 set by Luk in 2013. In the 200, Friend was fourth at 21.94.

Swisher is headed to the NCAA D-III Championships with the 13th-best height in the country in the pole vault. NCAA's take place May 21-23 in Canton, N.Y. Check back with GoDiplomats.com early next week for more information.
