Swisher Grabs Seventh, Earns All-America Status

CANTON, N.Y. – Rebecca Swisher placed seventh in the pole vault at the 2015 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Thursday, earning All-America honors with her top-eight finish.

This is the fourth All-America honor for Swisher in her career at F&M, as the junior received the recognition at the 2014 outdoor championships and indoor championships, and most recently at the 2015 indoor championships.

The No. 13 seed heading into today's pole vault event, Swisher began with 11'-03.75" and cleared it on her second attempt. The next height, 11'-09.75" was cleared by the junior in her second attempt, and at 12'-01.50" she was through in just her first attempt.

Swisher cleared the fourth height, 12'-03.50", in her third try, and same for the next-highest height of 12'-05.50", breaking her old F&M record of 12'-03.25" set in April at the Millersville Metrics and earning the All-America accolade.

Swisher's All-America honors mark the sixth consecutive year that a member of the women's track & field team has earned the distinction, as Sheena Crawley earned the status all four years at F&M.

Cimran Virdi of MIT came in first at NCAA's with a height of 13'-07.25", while Marissa Kalsey of Westminster (Pa.) was second (13'-03.50"), followed by Jamie Gradishar from Illinois Wesleyan at 12'-07.50".
