Maze Nets a Pair as No. 2 F&M Dominates Gettysburg

Box Score

LANCASTER, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall's No. 2 men's soccer team scored early and often in a dominant 4-1 win against Gettysburg on Wednesday afternoon in Centennial Conference (CC) competition.

The Diplomats improved to 12-1-3, 7-0-1 CC with the win while the Bullets remain on the bubble of the CC Playoff picture after falling to 8-4-3, 3-3-2 CC.

F&M can secure the conference's regular-season title on Saturday with a win against Dickinson.

Alex Bilodeau got the scoring started in the 11th minute, collecting a cross from Matt Regueiro in the top-middle of the box and firing a turnaround shot into the back of the net.

The Diplomats added to the advantage in the 26th minute when Ugo Okolie volleyed a short pass to the back post that was headed in by Robert Maze for a 2-0 lead.

In the closing minutes of the stanza, Steven Siegfried tallied a rebound goal off a Conor Pellas attempt on net, as the Diplomats piled on with a three-goal edge heading into the break. The goal was the first of Siegfried's career.

Okolie connected on his second assist of the game in the 49th minute as F&M picked right back up where it left off in the first half. Okolie outmaneuvered a pair of defenders on the end line and sent a pass to the far post, which was tapped in by Maze for his second score of the game.

For Maze, the two-goal effort gave the freshman forward six on the season and three in his last two games.

Gettysburg notched a score in the 79th minute, but the Diplomats rolled to the win. Goalkeeper Dave Reingold (12-1-3) played the opening 61 minutes, recording three saves and not allowing a goal to pick up the victory. Christopher Amoruso relieved him in the second half and surrendered the one score.

Thomas Keane (4-4-2) started for the Bullets in net and allowed three goals in the first 45 minutes of action.

Shots belonged to F&M by a 17-10 margin as well as corners at 5-4. Maze led the way with four shots, followed by Conor Pellas with three.

The regular season concludes on Saturday when the Diplomats travel to Dickinson for a 3:00 p.m. tilt.
