WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – Evan Friend took first in the 200-meter to lead Franklin & Marshall at the Monmouth University Collegiate Open on Saturday. The open featured primarily division I teams.
Friend finished with his best time of the indoor season with a time of 22.59 for first place in the event that featured 53 runners. He went on to place 13th in the 60-meters in 7.25.
Brad Krell ran 23.34 in the 200-meter and placed eighth while Michael Hoffman finished eighth in 8.77 in the 60-meter hurdles and the 4x400 relay team of Friend, Krell, Hoffman and Jinxin Chen placed eighth with a time of 3:31.62.
In the field, Logan Lewis finished sixth out of 29 throwers in the shot put with a throw of 50'-8".
Rebecca Swisher tied for first with Maggie Rampolla from Towson in the pole vault, but lost the tie-breaker, to finish second out of 13 with a height of 11'-9.75"
F&M returns to action on Saturday when the Diplomats travel to the Keogh Invitational hosted by Haverford.
