Three Earn First at Dr. Jack M. Toms Open

LYNCHBURG, Va. – Alyssa Ward, Aleksandra Kiszka, and Morgan Gray all earned first-place finishes on Saturday at the Dr. Jack M. Toms Open, hosted by Lynchburg College. The event, which did not feature team scoring, was F&M's first competition of the spring season.

Ward tallied her victory in the 100-meter hurdles, recording a time of 17.18 to win. She also collected a pair of second-place finishes, beginning in the 200-meter dash with a time of 27.41, while her teammate Olivia Bendit took sixth in 28.65. In the long jump, Ward's distance of 5.15 meters was good for silver as well.

Kiszka also turned in a pair of strong performances on the track. Her time of 1:11.49 was good for first in the 400-meter hurdles, before adding a third-place finish in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 18.49.

Gray took gold in the triple jump, as her leap of 10.43 meters edged out Bloomsburg's Amanda Simone by .01 of a meter for first place.

Lindsey Powers earned fourth place in the shot put at her first collegiate meet, marking a distance at 10.38 meters.

The Diplomats return to action on April 2, traveling to Gettysburg for the Little Three Meet.
