Swisher Claims Eighth Crown; F&M Third After Day One

CARLISLE, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall's women's track team competed at day one of the Centennial Conference (CC) Championships on Friday, spearheaded by Rebecca Swisher's eighth-straight conference title in the pole vault. The Diplomats earned 14 points on the day, putting them in third place, while Johns Hopkins holds the lead with 25.75.

Swisher ran away from the field, clearing 3.84 meters (12'-7.25") to win by more than a foot. That effort is the fifth-best in the country this year, practically assuring Swisher of a spot at the NCAA Championships later this month. The victory marks her eighth pole vault conference title between indoor and outdoor competition, making her only the second athlete in conference history to achieve the feat.

Julia Zielinski was the only other athlete in action for the Diplomats, finishing fifth in the 10,000. Her time of 39:45.31 earned F&M four points.

The Diplomats return to action tomorrow at 8:45 a.m. for day two of the CC Championships.
