F&M Finishes Fourth at CC Championships

LANCASTER, Pa. – A strong team showing in the 200-yard butterfly powered Franklin & Marshall men's swimming at the final session of the Centennial Conference (CC) Championships on Sunday evening at the Kunkel Aquatic Center. The Diplomats finished competition in fourth place with 492 points, while Swarthmore took the team title with a total of 720.

The Diplomats continued their success in the butterfly events, with Eric Dietrich-Peterson, Jonathon Sinton, and Richard Perry again taking three of the top five positions in the 200, as they did in the 100 last night. Dietrich-Peterson again led the way, clocking a time of 1:54.64 to take third place. Sinton followed in fourth, recording a time of 1:55.85, while Perry took fifth in 1:56.24. Cody Kalinowski followed up with a third-place effort in the B final, taking 11th overall with a time of 1:58.20.

Timothy Gould narrowly missed out on a second backstroke medal, taking fourth in the 200-yard version with a time of 1:53.57. He was joined in the A final by Jack Currie, whose time of 1:56.99 was good for seventh place. Maxwell Lyons got in on the action in the B final, taking second in the heat and ninth overall with a time of 1:57.98.

Daniel Sanders represented F&M in the 100-yard freestyle A final, emerging with 12 points as his time of 47.25 was good for seventh place.  Keith Kamons followed in the B final, taking 16th with a mark of 48.06.

Eric Lang and Ryan Caffrey both appeared in the finals of the 200-yard breaststroke, finishing in 10th and 11th, respectively. Lang clocked a time of 2:09.95, with Caffrey close behind at 2:10.22.

Reeves Connolly grabbed a pair of points in the 1650-yard freestyle, taking 15th with a time of 17:08.56.

F&M finished off the season in the 400-yard freestyle relay, with the team of Kamons, Gould, Sanders, and Matthew Murphy recording a time of 3:09.90 to finish in sixth place. James Connolly, Perry, Lang, and Caffrey turned in a time of 3:12.65 to take 12th in the event.
