Ward Golden at Day One of CC Championships

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Alyssa Ward's gold medal in the women's triple jump highlighted the first day of competition for the Franklin and Marshall men's and women's indoor track and field teams at the Centennial Conference (CC) Championships on Saturday. The Diplomat women sit in fifth place with 12 points entering Sunday, while the men are tied for eighth with 4 points.

Top Performances

-Ward blew away the competition on her way to her first conference gold medal. Her leap of 11.06 meters (36'-3.5") was more than .5 of a meter further than her closest competitor, and fell just 1.5 inches short of the F&M school record.

-Jabari Benjamin tallied two points for the Diplomats in the men's triple jump, finishing seventh with a distance of 12.18 meters (39'-11.5").

-The team of Spencer Lyman, Chris Shields, Bryce Williams, and Michael Whalen put together a time of 10:36.66 in the men's distance medley relay, collecting two more points for F&M.

-The women's DMR team of Grace Adams, Aleksandra Kiszka, Chelsea Frantz, and Abby Grehlinger matched their male counterparts, taking seventh with a time of 13:13.95.
