BALTIMORE, Md. – Franklin & Marshall claimed three more gold medals as well as another school record and several season bests at the third and final day of the Centennial Conference (CC) Women's Track and Field Championships on Sunday. The Diplomats finished the meet in sixth place out of 10 teams, totaling 68 points, while hosts Johns Hopkins took the team title for the eighth consecutive season with 202.5 points.
Top Performances
-For the third-straight time she has competed in the event, Rachel Wylie reset the school record in the 400-meter hurdles on her way to gold in the event. Her time of 1:02.22 smashed her own mark of 1:04.00, which she had established as the school record during yesterday's prelims. She won the event by almost two seconds and recorded the nation's 11th-fastest time this year to put herself in position to make the NCAA Championships.
-Not to be outdone, Alyssa Ward completed her sweep of the jumping events by winning the triple jump. She flew to a distance of 11.24 meters (36'-10.5") to win by more than a foot, adding another gold to her victories in the long jump and high jump yesterday.
-Wylie and Ward returned to the top of the podium, Ward for a fourth time and Wylie for a second, as F&M took gold in the 4x100-meter relay. Aleksandra Kiszka and Kaitlin Muccio joined them to record a finals time of 49.98.
-Muccio recorded an excellent individual performance as well, taking second in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:00.54. She earned silver in the event, recording a season-best time and missing out on gold by just .16 of a second.
-Muccio, Kiszka, and Wylie teamed up for another strong finish in the 4x400-meter relay, joining up with Chelsea Frantz to take third with a time of 4:02.48 in the squad's best time of the year.
-Kiszka had a solid individual day as well, scoring in both hurdle events. In the 100-meter hurdles, she led the Diplomats with a time of 17.35 to take seventh.
-She also took seventh in the 400-meter hurdles, following up Wylie's win with a time of 1:08.90 to score two points for F&M.
-Jasmine Wright led the Diplomats in the field, taking 10th in the javelin with a distance of 29.87 meters (98'-0").
