Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

Box Scores: Game 1 | Game 2

CARLISLE, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall's baseball team fell to Dickinson by a 12-0 score in game one on Friday afternoon before bouncing back with a 9-2 (7 innings) victory in the nightcap.

Only the game-one loss counted as a Centennial Conference (CC) contest as the second game on Friday served as a non-conference competition.

F&M moved to 17-15-2, 9-6-1 CC while the Red Devils now stand at 8-24, 5-11 CC.

Game 1: Dickinson 12, F&M 0

Dickinson's offense pounced on F&M with back-to-back, two-out RBI singles in the bottom of the first for the 2-0 lead. The Red Devils tacked on in each of the next three frames, including five runs on two hits and two errors in the third, to pull in front by a commanding 12-0 margin.

Starter Jonathan Cole (3-3) registered the loss after surrendering five earned on seven hits in two innings. Reliever Bobby Gaston was impressive in relief, throwing the final 5 2/3 frames and allowing just one earned while striking out five.

F&M's offense managed six hits in the game. Leadoff hitter Kengo Kawahara paced the effort with a 2-for-4 showing and one walk, while shortstop Andrew Poirier was also 2-for-4.

Game 2: F&M 9, Dickinson 2

The nightcap saw the Diplomats' offense find its rhythm early when a Brian Meerholz bases-loaded walk with two outs allowed J.J. Freeman to cross home from third for the 1-0 advantage.

A Jimmy Whelan RBI single in the second, and a Kevin Lammers RBI single in the third, extended the F&M lead to 3-0. After Dickinson got a run back in the bottom of the third, the Diplomats answered with three runs in the top of the fifth, including a Lammers RBI double to left field that plated Connor Green.

The Diplomats put the game out of reach for good in the top half of the sixth. Green got the scoring started with a two-out double to left center that sent Danny Blugis home from second. Poirier followed later in the frame with an RBI single that scored Green from third.

Matt Devlin (1-2) was sharp with seven innings of work, allowing just one earned and striking out eight batters in his complete-game showing.

Whelan was 2-for-2 with an RBI and a walk, while Lammers was also an efficient 2-for-2 with three runs scored, two RBIs and a walk.
