F&M Earns Split with Comeback Against No. 16 Cornell

LANCASTER, Pa. -  After dropping a tough 5-4 match against No. 14 Virginia earlier on Saturday, Franklin & Marshall's No. 17 ranked men's squash team returned the favor with a come-from-behind 5-4 win of its own over No. 16 Cornell in Lancaster.

The 1-1 split moved the Diplomats to 9-4 on the season.

By the Numbers (Virginia) 

Tied at 4-4, the match came down to the No. 1 spot in the order. Shams Abbas looked to have F&M in control with a decisive 11-4 victory in the opening frame but came up short in each of the next three.

The Diplomats rolled with wins at No.'s 2-5 on the ladder, but Virginia came away with victories at No.'s 6-9. Only four matchups were decided in three-game sweeps, with a pair of contests going the distance at five frames.

Trailing by a 4-3 score, F&M mounted its comeback with a sweep from Aryan Parekh at No. 4 and a marathon 3-2 win by Matthew Dukarm at No. 7. Four of the nine contests went to five games. The Diplomats dominated the middle of the order with a perfect 4-0 record at No.'s 4-7.
