LANCASTER, Pa. –Kenna Williams and Kristin Hamill each recorded double-doubles as Franklin & Marshall's women's basketball team took a 64-42 non-conference victory over Marywood in Wednesday night's season opener.

The Diplomats improved to 1-0 while the Pacers fell to 0-2.

Marywood led 10-9 with 3:30 left in the first quarter before the Diplomats ended the quarter on a 7-0 run bookmarked by a pair of Sarosha Parsons layups.

With 5:33 left in the first half, a Kenna Williams layup kicked off a 9-5 run that expanded F&M's lead to 14 heading into the break, with Parsons capping the run with a buzzer-beating layup for a 34-20 Diplomat lead at halftime.

Hamill splashed back-to-back jumpers to open the third, but Marywood hung with the Diplomats the rest of the frame. The Pacers outscored F&M 11-9 over the final 8:43 of the quarter, with neither team scoring in the final 2:17.

In the fourth, the Pacers looked to get back in striking distance. Marywood's efforts were thwarted by a 15-9 F&M run to end the game, ignited by Kenzie Bradley's three-pointer with 7:18 to go.

Williams picked up a double-double, of 14 points and 15 rebounds along with five blocks in 34 minutes. Hamill scored 17 points and pulled down 10 boards for her double-double, matching a career-high five assists along the way.

Sarosha Parsons poured in 18 points to pace F&M's offense, going 7-of-10 from the field and 4-for-7 at the charity stripe.

F&M returns to action Saturday, facing Wilkes in the Terry Greene Tip-Off Classic at 3:00 p.m.
