HAVERFORD, Pa. -- An A.J. Kopacz goal just 1:09 into overtime gave No. 17 Franklin & Marshall a thrilling 2-1 overtime victory over Haverford in Centennial Conference (CC) play on Wednesday evening. Kopacz scored both F&M (11-2-1, 4-2-1 CC) goals against the Fords (7-7-1, 4-3 CC).

Kopacz got things started early with a 2nd minute goal, handling a punch out from the keeper off a Shay Adamson corner kick, and firing a rocket into the net for an early 1-0 lead.

Haverford answered back in the 33rd minute to pull level at 1-1 entering the half.

F&M had their best chance to tally in the second half during a five minute span between the 56th and 61st minutes, as Shay Adamson hit the crossbar, followed by Kopacz forcing a save just 21 seconds later. Christian Avila Neres fired off three attempts in the following three minutes, but couldn't find twine.

The first chance of the extra stanza went to the Diplomats. Steven Yakita flicked a through ball to Kopacz, who finished off a scrum in the box for the 2-1 final just two minutes into overtime.

Kopacz's brace pulled him back into the team lead with nine - good enough for second in the CC.

Adamson, Avila Neres, and Kopacz all finished with three shots each, while Yakita ended with two to combine for all 11 Diplomat shots. F&M outshot the Fords 11-8 and held a 5-1 edge in corners.

Sam Altman Farrell (10-2-1) needed to make a pair of saves in his tenth victory of the season.

F&M now faces Ursinus on the road in a Saturday afternoon CC tilt beginning at noon.
