LANCASTER, Pa. – The Franklin & Marshall women's indoor track & field team opened its season with 15 top-10 finishes at the Diplomat Open on Saturday afternoon inside the Alumni Sports & Fitness Center. Getting to compete in front of the home crowd, Laura Greene headlined the day's events as she won the mile with a time of 5:33.68.

Greene's mile time was part of a 1-2 finish for the Diplomats as Sydney Dzenutis came to the finish line right behind her teammate with a time of 5:37.76. The mark was part of an overall strong day in the mid-distance to distance events as Valerie Fieberg was seventh in the 800m (2:39.84) while Freya Lindvall was fifth in the 3,000 meter race (11:23.18).

Abby Lienhard and Glory Edioma highlighted the sprinting events for F&M. Lienhard was 10th in the 200 meters (27.87) while Edioma finished 10th in the 60 meter hurdles (10.55). Lienhard also starred in the field events were she posted a top five finish in the long jump, with her best jump measure at 15'7.5".

Stephani Franks added another top five finish to the Diplomats in the field events as she cleared 10 feet in the pole vault. Emma Steffan was the standout in the throwing events for F&M as she took sixth in the shot put (36'10.5") and weight throw (46'1.5"). Jillian Barger added ninth place finish in the weight throw (39'8.5").

The Diplomat Open marked the team's only competition of the fall semester. The team will train for the remainder of the semester before returning to competition on Saturday, January 15 for another home meet as it hosts the Coach I Invitational which gets underway at 10 a.m. that day.
