Men's Soccer Overwhelms McDaniel, 3-0

Box Score

LANCASTER, Pa. – The No. 24 Franklin & Marshall men's soccer team continued to pile up the goals this week as the Diplomats controlled every facet of the match during a 3-0 win at McDaniel on Saturday night. The victory moved the Diplomats to 6-1 (1-1 CC) on the year as they finished the week outscoring their opponents by a 9-1 margin.

A.J. Kopacz was once again right in the middle of the F&M offense as he recorded the eventual game-winning goal during the 28th minute of play off a nicely played ball from Oscar Horwitz. Kopacz is now leading the Diplomats with four goals and 10 points on the season. Horwitz's pass, which came from just inside of the midfield stripe, was the first assist of the sophomore's career.

Direct kicks were huge in the Diplomats tallying their two second half goals. Shay Adamson gave the team some insurance with his first goal of the season just over one minute into the second half. Philip Monos registered his second goal of the season during the 67th minute of action during the eventual 3-0 final.

Franklin & Marshall finished the game with a commanding 17-5 advantage in shots. The Diplomats also earned eight corner kicks throughout the match and did not concede any on the defensive side of the ball. Sam Altman Farrell lowered his GAA to a minuscule 0.28 this year as the team recorded its fifth shutout in six victories. Altman Farrell was called on to make a pair of saves and has now stopped 92 percent of the shots he has faced this season.

With the first conference win of the year under its belt, the men's soccer team will head out on the road for a pair of conference battles this upcoming week. Up first will be a 7 p.m. match on Wednesday against a Muhlenberg team which is currently ranked 17th in the country. The Diplomats will also battle Dickinson next Saturday in a scheduled 12 p.m. start in Carlisle.
