Box Score LANCASTER, Pa. – The Franklin & Marshall men's soccer team officially clinched its spot in the Centennial Conference Tournament with a 1-0 victory over Haverford on Tuesday night. After a fairly even opening half, the Diplomats (10-1-4, 5-0-2 CC) took over during the final 45 minutes, with Adam Green's goal in the 57th minute proving to eventually be the game-winner.
F&M held a slight 7-6 edge in shots after 45 minutes, with a 6-3 edge in corner kicks. Those totals went well into the Diplomats' favor during the second half as the hosts outshot the Fords, 17-5, during the second half while also earning the only four corner kick chances.
Green was certainly one of those players who stepped up and led the charge during the second half as he finished with a match and career-high seven shots that eventually led to his first goal of the season (second of his career). Green took a pass just above the end line at the 18 and was able to create enough space to get inside the box where he dribbled around the last defender before finishing to the far post.
The Franklin & Marshall sophomore nearly made it a two-goal lead just over four minutes later as a blast off the post denied him his first career multi-goal game. Nevertheless, that one goal was more than enough for Nolan Booth who was making his first career start in goal. The first-year made three saves to record a shutout during his collegiate debut.
In addition to Green ultimately finding the weak spot in the Haverford defense, Shay Adamson was a constant threat all night with six shots – including four attempts on goal. Nathan Schlessinger and Koa Kaliebe each tallied three shots throughout the Centennial Conference victory.
Men's soccer will wrap up its home portion of the 2022 regular season schedule this Friday against Ursinus. That match, which will also be Senior Day for the team, is set for a 7 p.m. start on Tylus Field.
