No. 9 Men's Soccer Downs No. 15 Johns Hopkins, 1-0

Box Score

BALTIMORE, Md. - The No. 9 Franklin & Marshall men's soccer team (12-1-3, 7-0-1 CC) slipped past No. 15 Johns Hopkins (11-1-5, 5-1-3 CC) 1-0 Saturday afternoon to conclude the regular season. With the win, the Diplomats lock up the No. 1 seed in the Centennial Conference playoffs.

In the 27th minute of the match, F&M earned a throw-in deep into its offensive territory. Nathan Schlessinger heaved a pass into the box that took a bounce before the ball was headed past the JHU goalkeeper by Shay Adamson for the game-winner. It is Adamson's second game-winning goal in as many games, as he scored the opening goal in the 2-0 win over Ursinus last Saturday.

Sam Farrell was a wall in net, saving all six shots he faced. One of the biggest saves of the day came in the 81st minute on a one-on-one situation between Farrell and JHU forward Ian Whamond. Whamond sent a clear shot towards the bottom-right corner of the net, but Farrell was able to corral it to extinguish the scoring opportunity. The Diplomats have not allowed a goal since their 1-1 tie against Gettysburg on October 8.

No. 9 F&M clinches the No. 1 seed and a first-round bye in the CC playoffs. The Diplomats return to Tylus Field Friday to host the winner of Gettysburg and Muhlenberg.
