LANCASTER, Pa. – The Franklin & Marshall women's indoor track & field team posted 17 top 10 finishes at the Diplomat Open on Friday afternoon. Hosted inside the Alumni Sports & Fitness Center, the Diplomats additionally set three top 10 marks in school history during their first and only meet of the fall semester.
Jillian Barger just missed first place in the weight throw, but nevertheless had a very strong runner-up performance in the weight throw as her mark of 13.31 meters ties her for the third-best individual in school history. She would later take eighth in the shot put, just missing her personal best with a toss of 9.72 meters.
Abby Lienhard was also second in the long jump as the school record holder in that event landed at 5.13 meters in her return to competition. Lienhard, also the school record holder in the 60 meters, finished sixth in that event (8.29 seconds) and was fourth in the 200 meter dash (27.63 seconds). Hope Petralia turned in top 10 finishes during both of those sprints as well, taking ninth in the 200 (28.09) and 12th in the 60 meter dash (8.38). Her time in the 60 meter dash makes her the third-fastest individual in school history.
Three Diplomats finished in the top 10 of the 400 meters, led by Tatum Evans taking third (1:04.75), while Abby Bachman was third in the 800 meters (2:32.97). Glory Edioma took seventh in the 60 meter hurdles (10.02) while the 4x400 relay of Evans, Holly Batchelder, Anna Atticks, and Bachman was sixth in a time of 4:28.25.
In addition to the pair of runner-up finishes in the field events, Allison Huelbig turned in top 10 placements in both the high jump (1.45m) and long jump (4.48m). Amanda Imhauser (9.42m) and Lena Bell (8.69m) both earned top 10 finishes in the triple jump.
Franklin & Marshall will now head into final exams while breaking from competition over the holidays. The team will return to action with two more home events in January as the Diplomats host the Coach I Invitational (Jan. 21) and the Mini-Dip Invitational (Jan. 27) next month.
