Box Score LANCASTER, Pa. – The Franklin & Marshall women's basketball team fell to Dickinson by a 67-50 margin on Wednesday evening inside the Mayser Center. The Diplomats outscored the Red Devils over the final 10 minutes of game action, but the deficit from the first three quarters ultimately proved too much to overcome.
F&M kept within striking distance during the first quarter as Maia Lockhart's layup and a pair of D'Naisha Bellamy-Greene free throws set the score at 15-14 with less than a minute to play. However, that momentum was short lived as the Red Devils unleashed a 17-0 run starting at the end of the first quarter.
The Diplomats broke their scoreless stretch with free throws from Natalie Kolb, but by that time the visitors were holding a 32-16 advantage. Dickinson eventually carried a 36-19 lead into the halftime break after outscoring F&M 17-5 during the second quarter.
The second half was an even battle on the scoreboard as the Red Devils won the third quarter by a 19-14 margin before Franklin & Marshall answered back with a five-point advantage of their own in the fourth. Dickinson led by a 55-33 score heading into the final quarter, but the Diplomats were not going to go down with a fight.
Kennedy Wilburn tried to get things started during the final period as she went coast-to-coast following a steal while also drawing the contact to convert an old-fashioned three-point play. Ally Trebelev later knocked down a three-pointer from distance, while layups from Kenna Williams and Kolb brought the contest to within 15 points. Unfortunately, those mini spurts would end up being the closest F&M came in the final minutes.
Wilburn was the lone Diplomat to finish in double figures as she scored 10 points to lead her side. Bellamy-Greene and Williams finished the contest with nine and eight points, respectively, as they just missed double figures. Williams led F&M with seven boards and was also a force on the block as she swatted away four attempts from the Red Devils. Jaclyn Feit additionally rejected five shots on the defensive end of the floor.
Women's basketball wraps up its 2021-22 season this Saturday when the Diplomats host McDaniel in a 1 p.m. tip off. Prior to that contest, the team will recognize the four seniors on this year's team as a part of the Senior Day festivities.
