LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Franklin & Marshall women's track & field team had outstanding results from a limied contingent of runners over the weekend at the Bucknell Bison Outdoor Classic over the weekend. With runners chasing personal bests while doubling in the 800/1500m, the Diplomats came away with six top 10 times in program history. The event was filled with Division I talent and the Diplomats certainly showed they can compete on the biggest stages.
Following the 800 meter heats, the Diplomats currently own the second through fourth fastest times in the Centennial Conference this year while those marks claimed the fifth, seventh, and ninth spot in the College's record books. June Sanchez led those efforts with a time of 2:19.08, with Sydney Dzenutis clocking in at 2:19.73. Elizabeth O'Connell nearly broke the 2:20 mark with a time of 2:20.25. Laura Greene (2:22.61) and Lexi Salerno (2:23.04) finished with the eighth and 10th fastest times in the Centennial Conference this season.
O'Connell led the 1,500 efforts with a time of 4:44.36 that ranks third in school history and sixth in the CC. Kline's time of 4:46.29 ranks fourth and seventh in the school and conference, respectively. Salerno (4:47.08) posted the fifth-fastest time in school history to go along with the ninth-best time in the conference. Sanchez made it four new top six performances at F&M with her time of 4:50.93.
Women's outdoor track & field will continue to challenge itself in the weeks leading up to the Centennial Conference Championships as it will next compete at the All-American Meet hosted by East Stroudsburg on Saturday, April 23.
