MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – The Franklin & Marshall women's outdoor track & field team made the short drive over to Millersville but got to test itself against some tough competition on Saturday. The Diplomats did not shy away from the field and put up a number of personal bests that featured a numerous scoring performances throughout the event disciplines.
On the track, F&M's highest finishers were a pair of runner-up finishes from Christline Edward and Freya Lindvall. Edward was second in the 400 hurdles with a time of 1:07.11 and just missed making the finals in the 100 hurdles. Lindvall put up another huge personal best in the steeplechase as her time of 12:21.49 moved her up to fourth in school history.
Three Diplomats placed in the 1,500 meters, sweeping the fourth through sixth positions. Elizabeth O'Connell (4:54.52) and June Sanchez (4:56.18) both crossed the line with personal bests to improve their spot in the school record book. Emma Kline (4:56.48) already had her place in the school record book for that event secure and took sixth place individually on Saturday.
F&M's got another personal best from Abby Lienhard in the 100 meters as she finished in a time of 13.19 seconds to strengthen her sixth spot on the F&M performance list. Lienhard also scored in the long jump, placing seventh with a leap of 5.00 meters. Jillian Barger additionally excelled in the jumping events as she cleared 1.42 meters in the high jump to move into a tie for ninth in the College's record book.
Emma Steffan led the Diplomats' throwers in both the hammer (39.43m) and shot put (11.04m). Rachel Caruso posted the top javelin throw (30.88m) while results from Aspen Mazzatta is the discus are currently not available.
Women's track & field will be back on the road next weekend as the Diplomats take part in the two-day Stockton Invitational that will run from Friday, April 8 through Saturday, April 9.
