EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – The Franklin & Marshall women's track & field team added 12 new top-10 performances to the school record books and had 16 combined top-10 individual finishes on Saturday afternoon at the East Stroudsburg All-American Meet.
Christline Edward made headlines with her individual victory in the 400 meter hurdles, crossing the line with a time of 1:04.37 to rank third in school history. Edward was also seventh in the 100 meter hurdles (16.48), posting the fifth-fastest time in F&M history during that event.
As a team, the Diplomats strongest events came in the distance races. F&M claimed three of the top five spots in the 1,500 meters between June Sanchez (4:47.39), Elizabeth O'Connell (4:52.66), and Sydney Dzenutis (4:59.21). Emma Kline (10:29.67) and Lexi Salerno (10:30.46) went 2-3 in the 3,000 meters, claiming a pair of top 10 times in school history. Freya Lindvall was 10th in that same 3K event (11:09.42).
Mid-distance events were once again strong as Elizabeth O'Connell (2:21.16) and Laura Greene (2:21.60) were both in the top five of the 800 meter field. June Sanchez added the ninth fastest time in school history to the team in 400 meters. Abby Lienhard (13.14 seconds) and Tatum Evans (28.42) were the top F&M finishers at the respective 100 and 200 meter distances. Lienhard also led the team in the triple jump (9.52m).
The throws saw top 10 performances across each event. Jillian Barger put down the second-furthest hammer throw (41.15m) in school history, as all four Diplomats who competed in that event now rank among the top 10 at the College. Emma Steffan was fourth in the shot put (11.90m), posting the seventh-best mark in F&M history. Rachel Caruso (32.77m; javelin) and Aspen Mazzatta (35.59m; discus) were sixth and eighth, respectively, in their highest placing events.
Women's track & field currently has two events on the schedule for next weekend right now as the team will look to potentially compete at the historic Penn Relays or the Elizabethtown Blue Jay Tune Up.
