GALLOWAY TWP., N.J. – The Franklin & Marshall women's track & field team traveled to the Stockton Invitational over the weekend. Rachel Caruso captured the javelin title as one of many Diplomats to continue to make their mark in the school record books.
Caruso's best javelin throw was marked at 37.01 meters, ranking her fourth in that event in school history and third in the Centennial Conference this year. Emma Steffan also impressed in the throws, leading the team in the hammer (41.07m) and shot put (10.85m). Her hammer throw moved her up to second in the school record books and is also the second best mark in the conference this year. Aspen Mazzatta led the Diplomats in the weight throw with a eighth-place finish at 35.65 meters.
Additional field events saw Abby Lienhard take fourth in the long jump (5.02m), while Stephani Franks was fifth in the pole vault (2.70m). Lienhard also led the team in the 100 (13.58) and 200 (28.03) meter dashes. Jillian Barger competed in the heptathlon for the Diplomats, scoring 2,618 points as she became just the fifth person in school history to attempt the multi-event. Her best event in the heptathlon was the shot put where she scored 483 points.
Franklin & Marshall's best finish on the track came with a pair of runner-up finishes. The 4x100 meter relay consisting of Christline Edward, Lienhard, Hope Petralia, and Tatum Evans finished second with a time of 53.23 seconds. Edward continued to excel in the hurdles as she was second in the 400 hurdles (1:06.47) and sixth in the 100 hurdles (17.22).
Sydney Dzenutis dominated the mid-distance events, taking third in the 800 meters (2:19.77) and 10th in the 400 meters (1:02.04). Her time in the 800 meters ranks her seventh in school history and is the top time in the Centennial Conference this season. Lexi Salerno added a fourth place showing in that same 800 meter event (2:23.35). Grace Miske added yet another top 10 finish for F&M in the 5,000 meters (19:51.83) as Alysse Danyi paced the team in the 1,500 meters (5:22.37).
