Men's Soccer Fends Off Washington College, 1-0

Box Score

LANCASTER, Pa. – Oscar Horwitz scored his third goal in four games to help the Franklin & Marshall men's soccer team (4-1-1, 1-0 CC) edge Washington (1-2-2, 0-1 CC) 1-0 Saturday evening in a Centennial Conference game at Tylus Field.

In the 51st minute, Koa Kaliebe dribbled the ball deep into WAC territory, breaking towards the end line. The Washington goalkeeper guarded the nearby post to cut off any shot opportunity for Kaliebe. Meanwhile, Kaliebe passed the ball in front of the net to a crashing Horwitz, who buried his shot into a wide open net to give the Diplomats the lead. It is now back-to-back games where the Kaliebe-Horwitz connection paid off with a goal.

Sam Farrell saved all three shots that he faced in the win. The Diplomats displayed a stingy defense that didn't allow Washington many opportunities inside the box.

Philip Monos led the team in shots with four, while putting one on net.

Franklin & Marshall outshot the Shoremen 13-10 in the game, while also sending five shots on net compared to WAC's three shots on frame. F&M's five shots on net came from five different Diplomat players. F&M also drew eight corner kicks in the match.

Franklin & Marshall returns to Tylus Field Wednesday at 7:00 to face William Paterson in a non-conference game.
