Box Score SALISBURY, Md. – The Franklin & Marshall women's basketball team (4-6, 1-4 CC) rang in the new year with a 65-54 victory over Salisbury (5-11) in its final non-conference game of the 2022-23 season Monday afternoon. Lizzie Neville paced the Diplomats offense as she racked up a career-high 24 points in the win.
Tied 23-all with 4:10 left in the second quarter, F&M started a 10-2 run to go up 33-25 right before the halftime intermission. Neville chipped in a pair of free throws, followed by Abby Meredith knocking down a three-pointer to extend the Diplomats' lead to 28-23. After Salisbury converted a layup, Kennedy Wilburn matched with one of her own on the other end. Neville capped the run by draining one of her three free throws of the game. The Seagulls made a layup in the finals seconds to cut F&M's lead to 33-27 entering the halftime break.
Salisbury chipped away at the F&M lead as the Seagulls cut the Diplomats advantage to 39-37 with 5:05 left in the third quarter. Franklin & Marshall created separation as Jaclyn Feit and Neville knocked down jump shots on back-to-back possessions. With 2:02 left in the quarter, Neville once again tacked on three points from beyond the arc to stretch the Diplomats' lead to 46-39.
Franklin & Marshall broke open the scoring in the fourth quarter as Wilburn knocked down two-point jump shots on consecutive possessions to give F&M a 53-44 lead with 6:52 remaining in regulation. Natalie Kolb hit a two-point jumper, followed by Neville draining a three-pointer to give F&M a 60-48 advantage with 4:08 left in the game for the Diplomats' largest lead of the contest.
In addition to Neville's 24-point showing, Wilburn and Feit also finished with double-digit scoring figures as they tallied 14 and 10 points, respectively. Wilburn also nabbed a game-high 14 rebounds in the win. Feit, Meredith, and Ally Trebelev each swiped three steals in the game.
Franklin & Marshall looks to continue rolling as it travels to face Muhlenberg in a Centennial Conference game on Wednesday at 1:00 p.m.
