LANCASTER, Pa. – The Franklin & Marshall men's swimming team celebrated its Senior Day and closed the dual portion of its schedule on an eight-meet winning streak following a 169-90 win against visiting Washington College on Saturday. Prior to the meet, the team honored the careers of seniors Andrew Canjura, Cameron Mehta, Jacob Nelson, and Willem Stoll.
The Diplomats won 11 of the 14 events, with Willem Stoll celebrating his Senior Day with an individual victory in the 200 Butterfly (1:57.90). He was later joined teammates Evan Willertz, Sam Kamdin, and Brady Saunders on the winning 400 Freestyle Relay (3:12.90). Willertz took the 100 Butterfly title (52.03) and swam the third leg of the winning 200 Medley Relay which additionally featured Matt Hopkins, Ben Lockey, and John Devaney (1:34.86).
In addition to being members of winning relays, Devaney (50 Freestyle; 21.44), Hopkins (100 Backstroke; 55.15), Kamdin (1,000 Freestyle; 10:08.66), and Lockey (100 Freestyle; 48.06) all won individual event crowns.
Joe Clarkson led a 1-2-3 finish for the Diplomats in the 200 Freestyle, finishing in a time of 1:48.01, where he was followed to the finsh by Andrew Canjura and Jason Creed. Creed would add an individual title of his own in the 500 Freestyle (4:59.62). Patrick Rooney added yet another victory for the Diplomats in the 200 Breaststroke (2:10.08).
Men's swimming returns to action next weekend at the Swarthmore Invitational (February 3-4) before turning its attention to the postseason where the Centennial Conference Championships will run from February 16-20.
