LANCASTER, Pa. – Following a 27-17 road win at McDaniel, Matt Wertz and Laurence Miller were recognized for their individual efforts as the Centennial Conference Defensive and Special Teams Players of the Week. Wertz earns this award for the first time in his career while Miller earns that honor for the second time this season and the third time during his career.

Wertz made a season-high 14 tackles and broke up two other passes during the Diplomats' victory. The F&M safety has now made 27 tackles during the past two weeks and has a total of 10 pass break ups on the season.

The sophomore is now fifth in the Centennial Conference with 47 tackles on the year and is tied for the conference lead with 11 passes defended with his interception against Ursinus three weeks ago.

Laurence Miller scored nine points in the kicking game. The junior was 2-for-2 on field goal attempts, including a long of 46, while going 3-for-4 on PATs. Two of Miller's six kickoffs went for touchdowns as he averaged 63.8 yards per kickoff and pinned the Green Terror inside the 20 during his only punt attempt of the afternoon. Miller is leading the Centennial Conference with nine field goals made in 11 attempts with a long of 50 coming in the home opener.

Football returns home this Saturday for a 1 p.m. kickoff against Kean University. That non-conference matchup will be the last of three matchups in the Centennial-NJAC scheduling agreement. That contest will also be a part of the College's TrueBlue Weekend on campus.
