LANCASTER, Pa. - Behind goals from three separate Diplomats, the Franklin & Marshall Field Hockey team eased past Muhlenberg, 3-0. It was the sixth straight win for F&M and fourth straight shutout.
Late in the first quarter, the Diplomats were awarded a penalty stroke which
Annie Malatesta promptly buried to put F&M on the board.
Then, with less than three minutes remaining in the second period,
Sophie Carroll scored off of a pass from
Darby Klopp to give the Diplomats a 2-0 lead. The goal marked back-to-back games in which Carroll found the back of the cage.
Ella Page later added a third goal in the 43rd minute with an assist from
Carolina Riley.
The Mules were able to get off just five shots on the afternoon, making it six consecutive games in which F&M held its opponent to five shots or less. It was also the sixth clean sheet of the season for
Meghan Dole.
The Diplomats will now travel to Collegeville, Pa. to face No. 16 Ursinus on Wednesday, October 11 at 7 p.m.
