LANCASTER, Pa. - Landing a pair of top-three finishes, the Franklin & Marshall Women's Swimming team ended the first day of the F&M Invitational in third place out of nine teams.
With four qualifiers in the 500-yard freestyle,
Georgia May led the way as the lone 'A' final competitor, posting a fifth place finish with a time of 5:15.09.Â
Despite not having any swimmers in the 200-yard IM 'A' final,
Catherine Crampton was the top finisher in the 'B' wave with a time of 2:10.54.Â
Sophie Moyer registered a second place finish in the 50-yard freestyle final with a time of 24.40, missing first place by .40 seconds. She was followed by
Helen Lahmann-Metcalfe who placed sixth with a time of 25.04.
Matti Harvey was also the top finisher in the 'B' wave with a time of 24.73, winning by .01 seconds.
The 'B' team of
Rachel Baker,
Catherine Crampton,
Jennifer Leigh and Harvey led the way for the Diplomats in the 400-yard medley relay with a time of 4:07.31.
In the 200-yard freestyle relay, the 'A' team of Lahmann-Metcalfe, Moyer, Harvey and Baker placed third with a time of 1:37.92, off by .45 seconds from first place.
All together, F&M totaled 311 points as a team, sitting 185 points behind Washington & Lee in first place.Â
The Diplomats will return to action tomorrow at 10 a.m. for the preliminaries and 6 p.m. for the finals at the Alumni Sports and Fitness Center.Â
