LANCASTER, Pa. - Totaling six top-three finishes on day two of the F&M Invitational, the Franklin & Marshall Men's Swimming team remained in first place with a team score of 851.5.
Three Diplomats qualified for the 400-yard IM finals and were led by
Matthew Tilghman, who placed third in the 'B' final with a time of 4:15.25.
Evan Willertz then won the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 50.10, marking the lone first-place finish for F&M on the evening. Additionally, Tim Turnball topped the 'C' final of the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 53.37.Â
Henry Tavens and Matthew Hurford finished second and third in the 200-yard freestyle, respectively, with 0.59 seconds separating the two. In the 'B' final of the event,
Joe Clarkson placed second with a time of 1:44.20.
In the 100-yard breaststroke,
Patrick Rooney led the 'B' final with a time of 58.37, while
Luke Circus won the 'C' final with a time of 1:00.02. Circus was followed by
Ben Lockey, who was just 0.20 seconds behind the former.
Rounding out the individual races,
Sam Kamdin and
Sean Conley posted second and third place finishes, respectively, while Matthew Hopkins came in third in the 'B' final.Â
The 'A' team of Conley, Lockey, Willertz and
John Devaney finished third in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:32.36.Â
The Diplomats will close out the Invitational tomorrow with preliminaries scheduled for 10 a.m. and finals scheduled for 5 p.m.
