Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men's Basketball Falls to Johns Hopkins at Home

LANCASTER, Pa. - In a game where Johns Hopkins led the entire way, the Franklin & Marshall Men's basketball team fell to the Blue Jays 74-54. It was the team's first loss of the season, now dropping to 6-1.

Falling behind 5-0 in the first three minutes of the contest, the Diplomats answered with an Omar Nichols three-pointer and a Kevin Nowoswiat layup to tie the game at the 16-minute mark. It was the final time the scores were level, however, as Johns Hopkins responded with a 8-2 run to jump back in front 13-7. After F&M outscored the Blue Jays 5-1 over the next minute, Johns Hopkins went on a 10-2 run to go up by double-digits for the first time on the night. The Blue Jays went up by as much as 15 in the half, but back-to-back layups by Vakaris Grauslys and John Seidman to end the frame cut the deficit to 11 heading into halftime.

Trailing 40-27 at the 17-minute mark of the second half, six straight points by the Diplomats brought F&M to within seven. Immediately after, Johns Hopkins pushed its lead to 14 using a 9-2 run, going up 49-35 with under 13 minutes left to play. By the nine-minute mark, the Blue Jays grew their advantage to 17, leading 56-39, before nine unanswered points by F&M closed the gap to eight with just over six-and-a-half minutes remaining in the game. It would be the closest the Diplomats would get for the rest of the tilt, however, as Johns Hopkins outscored F&M 18-6 over the final six-and-a-half minutes of the game.

For a third straight game, Grauslys led the team in scoring with 14 points on 4-of-11 shooting from the field, while also posting a team-high four assists. John Seidman led the team in rebounding with a season-high seven boards.

The Diplomats will stay at home to take on Albright on Friday, December 8 at 8 p.m. at the Mayser Center.
