LANCASTER, Pa. – The Franklin & Marshall women's indoor track & field team claimed two more silver medals on Sunday to wrap up the 2023 Centennial Conference Championships. Those performances by Sydney Dzenutis and Abby Lienhard helped the Diplomats finish in seventh place with 37.5 team points.
Dzenutis took silver and second-team All-CC accolades in the 800 meter race as she crossed the line with a personal best time of 2:17.76. That mark makes her the third-fastest individual in F&M history for the event. Emma Kline just missed a scoring performance from the second section of that event, placing ninth (2:23.62) after recording the eighth-best time in school history.
Lienhard's bronze medal came in the long jump where the school record holder had her best leap measured at 5.30 meters. Lienhard earned even more points during the 200 meter dash as she took seventh with a time of 26.66 seconds to become the second-fastest individual in school history. Hope Petralia finished 14th in 200 meters (27.37), registering the sixth-fastest time in school history.
Lienhard and Dzenutis capped the afternoon by running the first and anchor legs of the 4x400 relay to close the meet. Needing to beat Muhlenberg to solidify their spot in the team standings, the Diplomats' relay won its heat and placed sixth overall with the seventh-fastest time in school history (4:11.98). That relay included Tatum Evans and Emma Kline running the middle two legs.
Women's indoor track & field will have select individuals looking to increase their national rankings at the Tufts Final Qualifier Meet which will be held next Saturday, March 4.
