GETTYSBURG, Pa. – The Franklin & Marshall women's track & field team won six individual events, scored 126 team points, and placed second at the 2023 Little Three Meet which was hosted by Gettysburg this weekend.
Sydney Dzenutis and Abby Lienhard were both double winners for Franklin & Marshall during the tri-meet with the host Bullets and Dickinson. Dzenutis posted the eighth-fastest 1,500 meter time in school history (4:56.53) to win that event and added the 800 meter championship to her day with a time of 2:24.48. Lienhard excelled both on the track and in the field events. She won 200 meters (27.65) and took third in the 100 meters (13.28), while also capturing the title in the long Jump when her best mark of 5.25 meters tied her outdoor personal best which ranks fourth in school history.
The Diplomats also took home individual titles from Stephani Franks and Jillian Barger in the field events. Franks cleared 2.75 meters in the pole vault to win that event. Barger highlighted the team's throwing accomplishments as her best throw of 42.27 meters in the hammer won that event. Allison Huelbig was another strong contributor in the field events as she took second in the high jump (1.42m) and third in the triple jump (8.69m). By clearing 1.42 meters in her runner-up performance, Huelbig now moves into a tie for 10th in the F&M record books.
Relays were another strength for the Diplomats as they took silver during the 4x100, 4x400, and 4x800 which were the only three relays contested. Other highlights on the track included Tatum Evans posting the 10th-best time in school history during a third-place finish in the 400 hurdles (1:10.18). Kate Henderson continue to PR in the steeplechase, moving up to eighth in school history with her time of 12:45.98. Annalise Kauffman added another bronze medal to the team's performances with her time of 1:04.72 during the 400 meter race, with teammates Abby Bachman and Holly Batchelder also snagging top five positions.
Women's track & field continues its weekly competition schedule as the calendar turns to April. Franklin & Marshall returns to action next Saturday, April 1 at the Millersville Metrics.
