ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. – The Franklin & Marshall women's track & field team won four events at Elizabethtown's Tune-Up meet over the weekend. Those four championship performances helped the team place second in the standings in what was the Diplomats' final preparations for the next week's Centennial Conference Championships.
Reigning Centennial Conference Field Athlete of the Week Abby Lienhard won both the 200 meter dash (26.12) and long jump (5.24m). Her time in the 200 meters ranks as the second best in school history. She joined Glory Edioma in the top six of that event, while Edioma also took silver in the 100 meter hurdles (17.71). Lienhard was one of three Diplomats in the top five of the long jump, including runner-up Allison Huelbig (4.67m), along with Amanda Imhauser (4.51m).
Sydney Dzenutis won the 800 meter race with a time of 2:15.96 to become the fifth-fastest individual in school history. The senior was one of four Diplomats in the top five, along with teammates Annalise Kauffman (2:23.94), Valerie Fieberg (2:26.00), and Abby Bachman (2:28.10).
During the field events, Jillian Barger took home the title in the hammer with her best throw measuring 38.41 meters. Rachel Caruso led the javelin efforts with her silver medal in that event (38.41). Allison Huelbig was another star in the field events as she placed third in the high jump (1.50m)
In addition to the winning performances, further standouts on the track included Tatum Evans who was second in the 100 meter dash (13.34) and third in the 400 meter hurdles (1:09.79). The Diplomats claimed the second and third place finishes in the 4x400 relays, while Emma Kline and Amanda Imhauser were both fourth in the 1,500 meters (5:03.34) and 400 hurdles (1:14.14), respectively.
Franklin & Marshall now turns its attention to championship season as the 2023 Centennial Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships begin on Friday, May 5 and continue through Sunday, May 7. Ursinus is serving as the host of this year's championship meet.
