COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Day two of the 2023 Centennial Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships was one for the record books for Franklin & Marshall. The Diplomats registered 10 top-10 performances in program history and sent numerous individuals to Sunday's finals. The Diplomats also added three scoring performances to their day and are currently eighth in the team standings heading into the final day of competition with 17 points.
Abby Lienhard scored the biggest points Saturday as she earned honorable mention All-Centennial Conference honors in the long jump when her best mark up 5.55 meters placed her third in that event and strengthened her position as the second-best individual in program history. Allison Huelbig turned in a top 10 finish with her personal-best leap of 4.82 meters now ranking 10th in school history. Huelbig added points to the team score when she cleared 1.50 meters in the high jump to place seventh.
On the track, the 4x800 meter relay of Valerie Fieberg, Abby Bachman, Annalise Kauffman, and Emma Kline posted the third-best time in school history (9:38.81) on its way to a sixth place finish.
Seven of the Diplomats' top marks in program history came during the qualifying heats where the finals will be contested on Sunday. Sydney Dzenutis was the top qualifier to the 800 meter finals where her qualifying time of 2:15.66 moved her up to fifth in school history. Glory Edioma (16.68 in 100 hurdles) and Tatum Evans (1:08.88 in 400 hurdles) advanced to the finals with the fifth and eighth fastest times in school history, respectively.
In addition to her all-conference accolades, Lienhard qualified to Sunday's 100 meter final with a time of 12.77 seconds for the third-fastest time at F&M, while later registering the fifth-fastest time for the Diplomats in the 200 meters (26.57). Hope Petralia added top 10 times to the record book in both the 100 meter (13.17) and 200 meter (26.91) races.
The final day of the women's outdoor conference championships gets started with the shot put and 4x100 meter relay at 11 a.m. and will continue through the awards ceremony at 3:45 p.m.
