LANCASTER, Pa. – The No. 18 Franklin & Marshall men's soccer team (4-0) picked up its fourth win of the season as it blanked Rosemont (1-3), 5-0, in Monday evening's non-conference matchup at Tylus Field.
Oscar Horwitz registered three goals in the win to record the first F&M hat trick since Jason Tonelli '18 scored three goals against Swarthmore in 2016.
Horwitz got the scoring started in the 18th minute as he delivered a strike to the bottom-left corner of the net from just outside the box. Four minutes later, Horwitz snuck a left-footed shot inside the right post to extend the F&M lead to 2-0.
Franklin & Marshall outshot Rosemont 12-3 in the first half with 10 of the Diplomats' shots being on target.
After a Ravens' own-goal in the 51st minute to put F&M up 3-0, the Diplomats continued to press on offense. Following a Rosemont turnover in the 56th minute,
Koa Kaliebe delivered a perfect pass to Horwitz who weaved past the Rosemont defense. The senior scorched a shot past the outstretched goalkeeper to solidify the hat trick.
F&M wasn't done on offense quite yet as
Michael Desmond capped the scoring with a goal in the 68th minute for his second goal in as many games.
F&M tallied 20 shots with 10 on net in the match. Kaliebe recorded two assists, while
Adam Green and
Jordan Samuels registered one each in the contest.
Nolan Booth picked up his first win of the season and his third-career shutout with five saves in net.
F&M now prepares for its first road game of the season as it travels to Penn State Harrisburg on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. The Diplomats then begin conference play at Haverford on Saturday at 3:00 p.m.
