No. 9 Men's Soccer Outlasts Penn State-Harrisburg, 4-2

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. – The No. 9 Franklin & Marshall men's soccer team (5-0) claimed its fifth win of the season by defeating Penn State-Harrisburg (1-3-1), 4-2, in the Diplomats' first road match of the season Wednesday evening. F&M received two goals from Oscar Horwitz in the final 10 minutes of the contest to push past the Lions.

Tied 2-2 in the 80th minute, Franklin & Marshall applied heavy pressure to the front of the PSU net. Horwitz fired a shot that was blocked in front. Jordan Samuels gathered the ball before it could cross over the end line and sent it back towards the middle of the box. Horwitz fired a second shot into the open part of the net to give F&M the lead. Six minutes later, Horwitz found the back of the net again for his team-leading seventh goal of the season.

Penn State-Harrisburg got off to an early 1-0 lead in the match – scoring in the 22nd minute of the match. The Lions outshot the Diplomats, 6-2, through the first 45 minutes of the contest.

Still trailing 1-0, F&M put together an offensive attack in the 65th minute when Horwitz connected with Koa Kaliebe to tie the game. It is the third time this season where Kaliebe scored a game-tying goal and Horwitz recorded the game-winning goal in the same match.

Philip Monos scored his first goal of the season in the 73rd minute to give F&M a brief advantage. Five minutes later, the Lions scored the equalizer.

Despite being outshot, 14-11 in the match, Franklin & Marshall put all 11 shots on net.

Nolan Booth earned his second win in net this season, making a career-high six saves in the win.

Franklin & Marshall opens Centennial Conference (CC) play on Saturday at 3:00 p.m. when the Diplomats travel to Haverford.
