Field Hockey Dropped by No. 15 York (Pa.) in OT

YORK, Pa. - The Franklin & Marshall Field Hockey team conceded an overtime goal to No. 9 York (Pa.) in a 2-1 loss on Wednesday night.

The Diplomats were able to tally twice as many shots as the Spartans, but Katie Martino managed to find the back of the net within the first 30 seconds of the overtime period to seal the win for York.

Just over five minutes into the contest, Olivia Miller buried a shot in the cage after being assisted by Sara Pique and Maycee Collison. Four minutes later, Alison McCarey answered right back with a goal of her own, assisted by Amelia McCarthy, to tie the game up, 1-1.

In the second quarter, F&M out-shot the Spartans, 10-0, and took eight penalty corners, but were unable to convert, as the scores remained even.

The Dips then registered three shots on goal within the first two minutes of the third frame, but were all saved by Belle Fields.

After another scoreless period in the fourth, in which Meghan Dole made four saves in net to keep scores level, the Spartans came away with the win in overtime.

F&M falls to 1-4 with the loss and will travel to Union, N.J. to face No. 15 Kean on Saturday, September 16 at 5 p.m.
