LANCASTER, Pa. – The weekly awards continued to pour in on Tuesday for the Franklin & Marshall football team as Matt Scully was recognized on the D3football.com Team of the Week. Scully earned the weekly honor as a linebacker where he led the team with nine tackles, intercepted a pass in overtime, and forced & recovered a fumble.

Scully is the first Diplomat to be named to the national team of the week since teammate Justin Gerhart was recognized during week two of the 2022 season. He is just the fifth linebacker at F&M to earn a spot on the national team of the week for the award which dates back to 1999. The last linebacker to earn this recognition was Pete Mohoric during week two of the 2002 season. Additionally, Scully also earned national recognition when he received a game ball presented by Pat Coleman of D3football.com during the national organization's weekly podcast.

The Diplomats' junior capped his outstanding defensive performance with an interception in the end zone during the overtime period, halting Montclair State's opening possession of the extra period on just the second play of that drive. Scully also forced a fumble during the fourth quarter rally while seven of his nine tackles on the afternoon were solo efforts, with two coming behind the line of scrimmage.

Franklin & Marshall will put its undefeated record on the line this Thursday when the team hosts its rescheduled home opener against The College of New Jersey. That game is set for a 7 p.m. kickoff under the lights of Shadek Stadium.
