LANCASTER, Pa. - Coming off of a two-game road trip, the Franklin & Marshall Field Hockey team dominated Alvernia, 5-0 in its return to Tylus Field.
Caitlin Hoover led the way for the Diplomats, registering a hat-trick before the end of the third quarter. The first-year leads the team in goals with five.
Jessica Miller struck first for F&M, scoring off of an assist from
Hannah Fitzgerald just over seven minutes into the contest. Less than three minutes later, Hoover scored the first of her three goals, with the assist coming from
Darby Klopp.
With under five minutes left to play in the first half, Hoover found the back of the net once again, as
Grace Fass delivered the helper. The Golden Wolves recorded just one shot through the first two quarters.
After the Diplomats were awarded a penalty stroked in the 34th minute of the game, Hoover completed her hat-trick by burying the attempt.
In the closing minutes of the tilt,
Avery Niedland added a fifth goal for F&M.
Brianna Coolican tallied the first career point of her collegiate career with the assist.
Overall, the Diplomats outshot Alvernia, 23-4, with Hoover and Miller each notching four.
F&M will now turn its focus to Centennial Conference play, as it welcomes Washington College to Tylus Field on Saturday, September 23 at 12 p.m.
