LANCASTER, Pa. - The Franklin & Marshall Field Hockey team won its second straight game, defeating Washington College, 2-1. It was also the first Centennial matchup of the season for the Diplomats.
Less than five minutes into the contest,
Keira Boensch threaded a pass to
Jessica Miller, who buried the shot into the back corner for an early 1-0 lead.
Early on in the second quarter, Bryn Balliet evened the score after putting a loose ball into the back of the cage. Moments later, however, Miller put F&M back on top, scoring with an assist from Carolina Reily.
The Shorewomen were then held to without a shot in the entire second half despite taking four penalty corners. Overall, the Diplomats outshot Washington, 22-4. 10 of F&M's shots were on goal compared to three for the Shorewomen.
Miller tallied a career-best eight shots while
Meghan Dole made a pair of saves in goal.
The DIplomats will hit the road for the next two games, beginning with a trip to Dickinson on Wednesday, September 27 at 4 p.m.
