NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - The Franklin & Marshall Field Hockey team suffered a loss to No. 15 Christopher Newport in Newport News on Sunday afternoon.

The Captains began the first quarter aggressively, registering eight shots to the Diplomats' one. Goalkeeper Meghan Dole was able to tally five saves to keep the game scoreless.

Three minutes into the second quarter, Alexis Morales found the back of the cage to give CNU a 1-0 lead. Shortly after, Caitlin Hoover evened the contest with a goal of her own, assisted by Carolina Riley. 

The two teams remained scoreless after the third, with F&M failing to get a shot off. 

The Captains later broke the tie in the fourth with a goal by Caroline Hughlett in the 49th minute.

The Diplomats fall to 0-2 on the season and will return home to face No. 8 Messiah at Tylus Field on Wednesday, September 6 at 7 p.m.
