Men's Basketball Extends Winning Streak to Three

CHESTERTOWN, Md. - On the road against Washington College, the Franklin & Marshall Men's Basketball team bested the Shoremen 82-71 on Thursday night. 

Limiting Washington College to just two made shots inside of the opening 10 minutes of the game, the Diplomats raced out to a 21-6 lead on 5-of-9 shooting from beyond the arc. In that span, John Seidman tallied four of his 12 assists on the night. By the seven-minute mark of the first half, F&M grew its lead to 20, with the Shoremen making just one more shot. With three minutes remaining in the period and the Diplomats ahead 36-14, Washington College mounted a 12-3 run to end the half, making it a 13-point game heading into the break.

After the two teams traded a pair of jumpers in the first three minutes of the second frame, the Shoremen scored six straight points to reduce the deficit to seven with 15 minutes left to play. Later leading 48-40, a a 15-2 run that spanned nearly four minutes put the Diplomats ahead by 21 and squashed any comeback hope for Washington College. With the difference staying above 11 for the remainder of the game, F&M closed out a wire-to-wire domination for its third straight win. 

Seidman's 12 assists not only led the team, but tied a personal best for the junior, who last recorded 12 helpers in his first year. He also posted a team-high 17 points on 7-of-9 shooting from the field. Shooting 13-of-29 from deep as a group on the night, the Diplomats set a season-high of three-pointers made. 

F&M will close out the three-game week with a home contest against Swarthmore on Saturday, January 13 at 3 p.m.
