LANCASTER, Pa. - Trailing 32-20 at halftime, the Franklin & Marshall Men's Basketball team outscored Swarthmore 50-23 in the second half for a 70-55 win. The win capped of a perfect 3-0 record on the week and extended the team's winning streak to four.
With the Diplomats failing to score a field goal in the first eight minutes of the game, the Garnet raced out to a 14-1 advantage. In that span, F&M committed six turnovers and shot 0-of-6 from the field.
Vakaris Grauslys broke the drought shortly after, however, making a layup to ignite a 7-2 run in which he scored all seven points. Swarthmore then answered with six straight points of their own to go back up by double-digits, and continued to lead by at least 10 for the remainder of the half. A Vinny DeAngelo layup at the three-minute mark gave the Garnet their largest lead of the game at 16, but the Diplomats reduced it to 12 by the end of the period.Â
Trailing 36-25 with less than 17 minutes remaining, F&M used a 12-0 run to take its first lead of the contest in 26 minutes of play. Over the next five minutes, the score saw four lead changes and four ties, as the Diplomats maintained a slim 47-44 edge with eight minutes remaining in the game. However, the Diplomats continued their scoring outburst with a 9-2 run to take a 10-point lead at the five-minute mark. After Swarthmore outscored F&M 6-1 over the next two minutes, the Diplomats ended the game on a 13-3 run and held the Garnet to no field goals made for the remainder of the afternoon.Â

Vakaris Grauslys led the team in scoring with 24 points on 7-of-11 shooting from the field.
John Seidman registered a team-best 10 boards. As a team, F&M knocked down 33 free-throws, its most since January of 2018.
